In this week’s Professional Spotlight, we introduce Precious Okoro, a dedicated Web3 UX Writer and Content Designer from Nigeria. At just 24, Precious is carving a unique path in the decentralized space, combining her passion for user experience with the evolving landscape of Web3. Her journey reflects perseverance, skill-building, and a drive to overcome barriers often faced by professionals in underrepresented regions.
Precious began her career in traditional content creation and UX design, accumulating over four years of experience in Web2. However, her desire to break new ground and expand her skill set led her to explore the Web3 ecosystem.
“I wanted to stretch the boundaries of my skills. Web3 UX Writing is still relatively untapped compared to Web3 Content Writing. There’s a gap where UX writers with Web3 knowledge are needed, and I want to help bridge that,” Precious explains.
Her journey into decentralized UX design is driven by the understanding that Web3 platforms require intuitive and engaging user experiences, a space where traditional content skills merge with technical design.
A significant part of Precious’s mission is to challenge the misconception that Web3 is inaccessible to the average professional.
“Web3 is open to everyone. Many people believe they need a guide to navigate the space, but the truth is, resources are out there. By leveraging skills you already have and being proactive, you can contribute to the space,” she shares.
Precious highlights the value of transferable skills and encourages professionals to take initiative by exploring decentralized platforms and learning from online resources.
Like many professionals in the EMEA region, Precious faces significant hurdles in her Web3 career, especially when applying for remote jobs outside of Africa.
“As a Nigerian, I’ve faced stereotypes and job limitations simply because of my location. We often have to work twice as hard to prove our skills and value. It’s discouraging at times, but I stay motivated by focusing on growth,” Precious reveals.
To navigate these challenges, Precious has turned to proxy networks and regional applications but acknowledges the limited opportunities this approach presents.
This is why Joba Network exists, to create a system where professionals are evaluated based on their skills, contributions, and onchain reputation, rather than their location or background. By showcasing verified achievements and work histories onchain, we empower talent from all regions to access global opportunities without the weight of bias.
Precious discovered Joba Network while scrolling through Twitter. “Finding Web3 jobs can be tough, but Joba consolidates job postings into one space. That’s what motivated me to sign up,” she says.
She is hopeful that Joba can bridge the gap between talents and hirers. “A community feature where professionals can interact with recruiters would be a valuable addition,” Precious suggests.
Precious’s skills span UX Writing, Content Design for decentralized platforms, and content creation for crypto websites, blogs, and mobile applications. Her focus is on improving user engagement by crafting intuitive experiences that align with decentralized environments.
“The Web3 space is expanding rapidly. Don’t wait for an invitation – insert yourself and add value wherever you can,” she advises.
Precious’s story is a testament to the power of adaptability and persistence. She continues to pave the way for other Web3 content and UX designers by showcasing the potential that lies in merging UX principles with decentralized technology.
